How does private tuition work?Tuition with Boost Your Learning takes place anywhere across New Zealand. Following your diagnostic assessment you will be assigned the best fit tutor for your students needs. Lessons are typically one-one with a dedicated and experienced teacher. The tutor will exclusively plan for your child, building on their strengths and targetting their learning need, that were identified in the initial assessment. With your permission, our tutors can liaise with your child's class/ subject teacher to maximise the benefit of the lessons. This ensures our students have lots of opportunities to apply new skills. Lessons can take place before, during or after school depending on tutor availability.

How does online tuition work?Learning online is an easy and convenient to bring high quality learning experiences to your own home, no matter where you live. To commence online learning, students must have a computer and a high speed internet access. We will communicate using our fully integrated platform Lesson Space, where we can see and hear each other. We use an interactive whiteboard tool that the students can write on and we are able to upload videos, images and learning slides for use before, during and after the class. Each student with us has their very own 'Lesson Space' which saves progress so learning is completely adaptive to your child's needs and experiences can be built upon each week. The benefits of online lessons include: - Opportunity to review materials in advance of the lesson - Ability to take photos and record important parts of the lesson to review at a later date. - Online interactive tools to make learning fun and interesting - The same high quality learning experience you would have in a face to face lesson. -Screen sharing ability to be able to share and access course materials in real time.

How is progress measured? An initial assessment will be carried out prior to commencing tuition. We then develop a learning plan, aligned with the national curriculum, which is shared with you and the student. Each of our learning sessions will focus on a key area and our tutors will provide regular feedback. As experienced teachers, we constantly adapt our practice to ensure your child is always learning optimally. Students will be given a small amount of homework, where you will be able to see the progress in action at home. At the end of each term, each student is provided a formal report of their learning.
